Boiler Maintenance

Boiler Pressure Guide

How to check and adjust your boiler pressure

Understanding Boiler Pressure

Correct boiler pressure is essential for efficient operation:

  • Normal pressure: 1-2 bar when cold
  • Slightly higher when hot (up to 2.5 bar)
  • Too low: below 1 bar
  • Too high: above 2.5 bar

Checking Your Pressure

To check your boiler pressure:

  1. Locate the pressure gauge (usually on the front)
  2. Check the reading when the system is cold
  3. Monitor for any changes
  4. Note any regular drops in pressure

Adjusting Low Pressure

If your pressure is too low:

  1. Locate the filling loop
  2. Open both valves slowly
  3. Watch the pressure gauge
  4. Close valves when pressure reaches 1-1.5 bar

High Pressure Issues

If pressure is too high:

  • Bleed radiators carefully
  • Check for system leaks
  • Contact a professional if persistent
